Shape changes the starting point
Round rackets commonly concentrate the useful hitting area nearer the centre. Diamond models tend to move mass and the preferred contact point upward; teardrops sit between those tendencies.
Shape is not a guarantee. Foam, face material, frame construction and balance can make two similarly shaped rackets behave differently.
